A couple weeks of goodbyes

Last week and the next coming 2 weeks will be filled with farewells to some of the favorites around here. This is one of the hardest parts of being a breeder - sending some of our adult cats who have retired from breeding off to new homes. We do it because it is best for the cats even if its hard for us to let them go. The good news is we know they'll be making their new families very happy.

Last week our wonderful mom Erika went to live with a couple here in Arizona. She prefers a calmer environment and no dogs so it was a great fit. We'll miss her terribly but she'll be so happy as the queen of the castle.

Her daughter Rita went to live with Bailee over the weekend and this was hard because even though she was 4 months old, she was very close to her mommy. The 2 of them were always together. Brother Roman would be off doing his own thing but Rita liked being with her mom.

This week we'll be sending Desi and Nolan to Canada. Desi is such a doll and super friendly and Nolan is a loverboy. They're not retiring but are older kittens I've grown very attached to.

Navarre, my buddy, is staying here in Arizona too. I came so close to keeping him but decided to wait for a girl from his mom's next litter. Navarre has been my shadow and constant companion since he was tiny. He'll be a welcome addition to his new family who is happy to welcome this active and somewhat co-dependent attention hog.

Finally, the end of the reign of the king. Godomir gets his send off in about a week and a half and he'll join his son, granddaughter, and great grandson in making the trip into Ontario Canada. He deserves his retirement and since he and my older neutered male are arch nemesis, it seemed best for him to be in a new home. His new family is anxiously awaiting their retired boy.

Yeah, I'll be down to just a handful. I'll miss them all a lot but it will be nice to have it a bit more normal:)
