Our Boy's First Date

I am pleased to announce that our junior boy Bossa Nova has figured some things out! He is 10 months old in a few days and now that the days are growing longer (barely) our first girl and one of his intendeds went into heat. Candy is one of our more experienced girls and Bossa Nova picked up on what to do in no time. We won't know for a couple weeks if he was truly successful, but if so we will be expecting our first 2009 litter sired by Bossa Nova around the 2nd week of March - coincidentally this is around his 1st birthday.

If the breeding takes, we should expect some beautiful mackerel and classic pattern kittens in both brown and silver. Because Candy is a bright golden there is a good chance our silvers may be what is termed tarnished. This means Candy's golden mixes with Nova's silver and creates a silver with gold mixed in. Nova is a blue silver so there is a chance we could get blues IF Candy carries the gene for this - we don't know this yet so it will be a surprise.
