Happy Father's Day

Elizaveta is checking you out...

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there including our own Godomir and David in the feline world and my own father of course back in Iowa. Thankfully he is not in the part of Iowa that is flooding.

On the note of parenthood or impending parenthood, I will be an aunt again in 3 short days! My brother and his wife are expecting a little boy on the 18th. Since he doesn't seem to know up from down (he's breech) they are planning a cesarean section. I'm looking forward to yet another nephew to spoil (although a niece at some point would be nice). This will make 5 nephews for me and (dare I say it) 2 great nephews.

In regards to feline parenthood, we are winding down the pregnancies for both Candy and Katharina. We have about a week to 10 days at the most and we'll have new babies...I need a break. I'm now looking forward to September - December for a much deserved break from babies. Now August may be another story. I'm happy to say that Mumbai and Darya had a "date" on Friday and Saturday. If all goes well we may have kittens in August. However, since he is only 8 months old, he may not be fertile yet. Darya will be joining her new family in December so this would be great timing if it does work. We will know more in 3-4 weeks and we'll make the formal announcement then.

For those that may be interested, this litter could give us the following: black/brown mackerel tabbies with or without white, blue mackerel tabbies with or without white, black/brown classic tabbies with or without white, blue classic tabbies with or without white.

***blue is a good possibility since Mumbai IS blue and Darya's mother carries the gene and hence may have passed it to her. Classic is a possibility since Darya carries this gene from her mother and Mumbai may although this is less likely****
